Danny Friedman knows all about loss. His father left to start a new family and now that his mother passed away, he's even more certain love is only temporary. People always disappoint him in the end, a lesson he learned years ago when his summer camp best friend and secret crush disappeared without a trace, never to be heard from again. Until now.

Fifteen years ago, Paul Merola left everything behind when he ran away with his mother to escape his abusive father. He lived life on the run for years, but never forgot his best friend, Danny. When his job transfers him to the New York City office, the past collides with the present, as Paul finds himself face to face with Danny, who works there as well. To Paul's dismay, a reluctant Danny makes it clear he has little desire to rekindle their friendship.

Despite Danny's desire to learn what happened all those years ago, he refuses to fall victim to Paul's charm, fearing he's being used to get ahead. Paul, finally secure enough to stay and put down roots, must convince Danny that there is more to them than a broken promise. Not only does he want to be friends again, he wants love. He wants forever. And he wants it all with Danny.

This story first appeared in the It Was Always You Anthology. It has been re-edited and expanded by approximately 5,000 words.

I enjoyed this book. Enjoyed Paul and how he knew what he wanted and decided to go after it. Danny was a bit skittish, but he finally let the wall drop and it was good for both of them.
This is a beautiful story about two boys were friends that were pulled away from one another by family interest. Meet again 15 years later as adults and get to know one another unfallen love all over again
This was a wonderful and beautiful love story! Definitely a must read, I could not put it down. The characters will cause havoc with your heart. So romantic and loving, your going to love it. This Author will have you loving every word. So many thanks, 🍯 Honey Bee 🐝📚💙🎶.
PS I'm blubbering, God it was great!🎶
The premise of the book is what captured my interest originally. However, the idea of the book was not well executed despite the fact that the author does a good job writing. There were small misinformed details that took me out of the story along with the fact that it was an insta love book. After 15 years, people change and this book didn't delve into the relationship of getting to know one another again, but focused purely on the fact that apparently getting to know someone again means getting intimate with them. I hoped we could have delved more into who the characters were because it did not feel like we really knew who they were outside of the fact that they both knew each other when they were younger and had troubled upbringings. I wish I could have enjoyed this book, but it ultimately fell short of my expectations.
read the shorter version of this in an anthology, and Felice Stevens has filled in the gaps with an additional 5,000 words to the better.

What a perfectly laid out tale of loss and love this is--even though you might arch an eyebrow along the way as to how Danny (blond on the cover) and Paul meet again after 15 years.

What did it for me is the unexpected way Paul pursues Danny, when a lot of authors would have wrapped it the other way. Nice twist in a short, beautifully detailed, and occasionally very hot story with superb MCs and a wonderfully playful sidekick.
This story really tugged at my heartstrings when I first read it as part of the It Was Always You anthology. With this version Felice Stevens has expanded it, adding some additional scenes and details that give us a little glimpse into Danny and Paul's friendship from childhood. I liked that she added to this story- it showed Danny's vulnerability as a teen, and why it hurt him so much to lose all contact with Paul.

Please Don't Go is a sweet, heartwarming yet heartwrenching, story. Both of these men have gone through so much in their lives- surviving but not living, until fate throws them together, giving them a second chance at love.
"I've waited fifteen years for this and I'll be damned if you rush me. Not shut up and let me love the hell out of you." *sigh*
One of the things I love about Felice's writing is her ability to imbue her characters with some trait or quality that makes them completely relatable to the average reader. Some of them are flawed, but they're written in such a way that you want to know why the feel or act they way do. In most cases, she has an entire novel to make you fall in love with her characters. But in Please Don't Go, she only has a few short chapters, but at no point are the character's short changed. Originally presented in the anthology It Was Always You as a short story, this version has been expanded to included greater detail into the friendship between Danny and Paul, two childhood friends who, through circumstances beyond their control end up seperated by geography, and, ultimately, years. Fate (or maybe Destiny) intervenes, and they are brought back together fifteen years later.

Without giving away details (because I hate reviews that do that), we find that Danny is the most scarred of the two. What I loved about this book was Paul's willingness to do whatever it took to win Danny, and to prove to him that no one should be left alone forever.

If you've read Felice Steven's work before, this novella will make a great addition to your library.

If you haven't read her work, this is fantastic place to start, and gives you a sampling of everything I'm sure you'll love.
Danny’s life is full of disappointments - his father left, his mother passed away and the only one friend he’s ever had - Paul, disappeared. He has a hard time trusting people and believing their good intentions. Paul’s life wasn’t easy - leaving everything behind to escape his abusive father and never being able to make friendship that lasted. Except for Danny - he could never forget his friend from summer camps. When his job transfers him to office in NYC, he has a chance to rebuild his connection with Danny, but Danny doesn’t believe Paul and Paul needs to convince him to give him another chance.

I loved this story. I’ve read it before as a part of It Was Always You Anthology, but it was even better this time! Danny and Paul are so sweet together. The plot was believable and it didn’t feel rushed. If you enjoy second-chance romance with deep connection between characters, this one it for you!
„Please Don’t Go” is super engaging, heart-warming and put a smile on my face! )
Highly recommended!
