Vanita Gaglani has been a Registered Physical Therapist for 30 years and has helped hundreds of people regain control of theirbladders and their lives. Specializing in treating urinary incontinence, overactive bladder and constipation, in both males and females, she runs a successful practice in Melbourne, Florida, called VANITA'S REHAB. Using the easy-to-follow instructions in this book, you can work confidently through the weekly step-by-step plan that has been perfected through continuous feedback from hundreds of Vanita's patients over the last decade. You will regain continence through proven, yet conservative measures, including special exercises, proper nutrition and behavior modification. Get back your normal life in 10 weeks! What makes VANITA'S WAY so unique is that it WORKS! There are a number of programs that may promote what seems to make sense on the surface, but they don't always provide 100% relief from the symptoms of incontinence. VANITA'S WAY is unique, and it WORKS!

I started reading this 4 weeks after my prostatectomy. My doctor recommended doing Kegels 3x per day but it did little and I had essentially no control before I started reading this book. I noticed an improvement the first day I started following the recommendations in this book. After doing the recommended exercises for 8 more weeks I've had continued improvement. Although I'm not completely dry yet its much better and more predictable than when I started. I wish I had read this before my surgery since I'd probably be further along than I am now.
I got the sense that this was written for an older, more sedentary, person (I'm early 50s). I wish there was advice on how to stay dry while walking and moving around at work. I also found the repeated sections to be both helpful and annoying since the repeated information was word for word in each chapter. A little variety would be nice. Overall a very useful book for anyone having a prostatectomy.

2 years on: Still use a pad every day. You leak if you're active, if you're tired, if you drink alcohol and if it's hot outside

Some good ideas, but didn't cure my problem (incontinence). If I had it to do over, I would have opted for radiation. Catch it early so you can make a calm, informed decision, as well as find the best Urologist in your area.
There is some good information in the book. It was written as a self help. I am a physical therapist that treats men with incontinence. I found it a little boring after the first chapter. The author gives you a step by step guide to treat the incontinence but all the steps are repeated with each of the next steps. So, you are reading the same steps over and over again until you gain the new material.
Very good and informative book.
Excellent, step by step approach!
I bought this as a backup to the Physical Therapy I did with her. It is handy as a reference in case I forget what she said.
My wife bought the book for me before my surgery. I read it before and after the surgery. It helped a lot, both physically and emotionally. I am a runner and still have some issues while running. The author was kind enough to personally offer suggestions via email. I would recommend the book.
I was instructed to do kegels in order to regain continence. I did kegels for four months and had very little positive results. If a definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome then doing nothing but kegels based on my experience is insane. My wife and I searched the Internet looking for a solution and fortunate for me my wife found Vanita Gaglani's book. I followed the instructions in her book and after 10 weeks I have regained my continence except for situations involving strenuous exertion (farm work). I intend to give my surgeon a copy of her book so that he will be able to help other patients.
